Edith says: "Seeing hares in the wild as a child made me forever love their extreme ears and woody movements. I am also intrigued by their associations with witches in folklore. I copied Dürer's hare when studying for my GCSEs and have felt an affinity with the picture ever since. In it you can almost see the animal trembling on his table, ready to bound away. It is such a charged image. In my painting I like to allow the water to make some of the decisions. A wild element to depict a wild animal."
